Persevering in Art

I absolutely adore nail art and I consider myself an amazing artist, however doubts do still surface. In my ambition to make true wearable exhibits, I am always looking for ways to step up my game and put more daring art on my press ons. One thing I realized while painting sets like these, is that it turns into a math equation! Each nail is its own tiny painting, the hand together is another piece of the the painting and lastly, both hands together is one painting as intended, (which gives me so many ways to stare at my nails!)

This set in actuality took me about 2 weeks to make because I had trouble creating depth- all of my trees kept coming out to the same height, which meant I was layering heaps of polish on TOP of each other. It looked like a mess instead of a field!

After focusing on one hand at a time I was able to fix my mistake and realize I wanted a whole new look! I had originally thought I wanted a clean cherry blossom tree look with a misty background, however this set wanted to be an entire grove. Working one hand at a time allowed me to create the set more coherently (and much faster) the second time around. It's scary to put myself out there, and I can find a million flaws in my artwork and ask myself who on earth would want to buy funny looking paintings from me? Then I remember my art looks like it's supposed to, and lucky for me it's subjective! I'm instilling confidence in myself and in my work every time I create a set, wear it, and list it for sale. That's an amazing accomplishment for me. Don't wait to start your art or hobby and don't wait to share it. As always I love sharing my heart, I mean art, with you.
