Everything is Art
Is my motto not only in my business, but also in my life. From my hair, to my clothes and most especially my nails. I knew I wanted to do acrylic nails, and to be frank I had no idea if I could even do my nails like I had gotten them done in the salons. Although I had been getting my nails done since I was in middle school I was only getting solid color nail polish, (I bet you guys don't even know what it is to wait for your nails and toes to dry!). I didn't even know how ombre was done until a few weeks before my second daughter was born...in 2019! When the nail tech said "Oh that's done with acrylic," I had absolutely no idea what she meant and was amazed when I watched the acrylic blend so perfectly into each other.
I say all that to say I had no idea I could paint, (I CANNOT draw, I don't understand how or the logistics... I think it's because paint can understand me better and colors love me!) I had no idea I could create the art that I do on nails, and I am so thankful that I just TRIED, even though I was truly awful in the beginning. (This is your sign to just try that thing you've been thinking about!)
I've dubbed these sets xPRESSive Art Sets, because they were more artsy for me, and I really felt like an artist every time I completed a set and then pressed them on my fingers (xPRESS, get it?!) I'll share my art and my thoughts between several posts so thank you so much for reading and feel free to contact me for any reason at all! <3
You'll Float Too
I love spooky season and one of my favorite movies is Stephen King's It so naturally one of my first attempts at spooky nails was Mr. Pennywise himself...he actually looks like Ronald McDonald now that I think about it... Anyways, I realized I got WAY better and for a second year I recreated them. I'm considering doing them for a third year not quite in a row.. maybe make it an annual thing to visually track my progress? The third picture is my first attempt in 2020, and the first two are from only a year later in 2021.
The Starry Night
Vincent Van Gogh is one of my favorite artists, and The Starry Night is my absolute favorite painting. (I should have been clued in to the fact I was an artist way before I realized, but I digress) I got the idea to recreate the painting on some nails. xPRESSive Designs Gallery is so important to me because I had no idea at the time, but I plan to display the nails as art pieces, and I painted the nails "on top of each other" so when you look down, essentially you're looking at the entire painting. Eventually I will recreate these nails also, and I'll display them in the way they were meant to be viewed and showcase the artistic elements. I'm still amazed at how good as I was, but I also know how far I've come and I'm excited to execute my ideas the way I want to.
Trippie
This is the first set that I feel came out even BETTER than I had hoped or even imagined (and these were after my Frida set!). They took me three weeks to finish, and the base color is acrylic and the 3D elements are gel. I was nervous because I wasn't confident in portraits but I was psyched at how Trippie's face had sort of an effect when viewed differently. Some of my favorite elements are the moon's tiny blunt, both clocks, and the finger that's pointing. Do you see them?
Stay tuned...
Thank you for coming on this journey with me, I have many more sets to share and many more sets to make! I'd be forever grateful if you let me know what you think! Also feel free to contact me for custom sets, questions on nail art, or how to start your own press on business!
